openingamyadambrent

This exciting new showhome - the very first 7 star Homestar showhome in New Zealand - was officially opened on March 31st by Minister for the Environment and local MP Amy Adams.  In opening the new home, Ms Adams congratulated Stonewood on being the first
to reach this rating.  “It’s the first time a showhome has been built to this level,” she said. “This will be taken as a given that homes will meet this standard in the future.”

Behind the scenes our design team have designed a home which makes the most of its location, with excellent thermal efficiency to save you long term heating and cooling costs. We’ve also specified materials which ensure low maintenance costs and products that will perform efficiently for years of enjoyment.

Address: 22 Tauhinu Avenue, Lincoln

Open Hours: 12-4pm, 7 Days a Week

Stage 10 - Painting

Painting is underway using Resene Zylon paints that are environmental friendly and provide a tough finish.
Plumbing is finishing and we are installing a rainwater harvesting system to capture and store rainwater for garden irrigation.

Stage 9 - Fittings

The kitchen is being fitted with energy efficient appliances, while low flow taps and aerated water in the bathrooms provide great performance
while saving water. The showers, with their thicker 10 mil glass are installed, along with coving and cornices and the insulate door in the garage.

Stage 8 - Plumbing

The plumber is installing the finishing touches including the dual flush toilets, the AC heat pump is installed to provide efficient fast heating.
The hot water cylinder is installed externally, saving internal space and giving you more storage, its advanced design uses a combination of solar and
heat pump technology.  Lighting is installed but it does not penetrate the ceiling so as to maintain the maximum insulation performance for your home.

Stage 7 - Gibbing

Gib board conceals wiring to future proof the home for data/TV/phone, and plumbing for the AC/heat-pump

Stage 6 - Insulation

Pink Batts are installed in the walls and ceiling including key internal walls for additional sound insulation.

Stage 5 - Windows

Windows have a foam sealant for an airtight weather-resistant seal, so no drafts – ever!

Stage 4 - Cladding

Eco Ply cladding is the perfect combination of strength and warmth. It is two and a half times stronger than some traditional methods and also gives you an airtight watertight barrier, increased insulation and greater sound protection. It also means the home is waterproof sooner so we can proceed with the internal fit out earlier, making for a faster build and an earlier move-in date!

Stage 3- Insulating the Floor Slab

The floor slab is insulated both on the side and under the floor. This means there is a thermal barrier between the home and the ground, and even the sides of the foundations. So when the home is heated it will warm faster as there is no power wasted heating the ground beneath.   Although this costs a little more and takes a bit more effort initially, the long term costs savings are significant.  We also build the slab with high strength ductile steel mesh embedded, so that it will be there for generations.

Stage2- Erecting the Frame

You will notice the exterior walls are thicker than normal to provide additional thermal insulation. We use Douglas Fir because this retains less moisture and is a straighter timber, giving a near perfect finish to your walls.

Stage1- Installing the foundations and floor slab

The homes is positioned for maximum sun to the living areas with large expanses of glass facing north. The sun will also heat the concrete slab during the day and release heat in the evening, reducing heating costs. The concrete is a special mix from Firth which aids the environment while at the same time delivering a quality product. While the slab is being laid, we recess the cavity for the showers to allow for a shower with a seamless walk in appearance.
